M and I had a blast on our trip to Texas back whenever it was... the baby shower was nice.
And I got to meet Dijea which was TONS of fun and I hope to get to see her again when I am not under the time constraints I was this time.
Then we went on down to Houston the next day and stayed overnight with my dad... I ended up with a huge box of old family photos, several albums, ours from when we were kids etc and then some my grandmother had left. Dad cooked steaks for dinner, and potatoes.. and salad.. and other veggies, like he was cooking for an entire army regiment and then some. Then he turned around and cooked sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast the next morning. It is a good thing we were only staying the one night or I am sure I would not have fit in the car at some point. From there we went down to my sisters just south of Houston. We had fun hanging out with them and spent one day in Galveston; my sister took off work to go with us which made the day even more fun. Went across the ferry and spend the afternoon out on the beach over there. There is still a lot of leftover damage from Ike but things are really looking so much better than they did last October when we were out there.

We headed out to San Antonio after that and stayed in a KOA cabin where we were visited every meal time by several geese and squirrels who were rather cheeky. One of them hopped up on the seat to the picnic table while I was mixing up corn bread muffins for the camp stove oven and just peeked over the edge waiting for me to feed him something so he got some bread to snack on.

We spent that first evening there in downtown along the river walk where we met up with my niece who just happened to be there for some work stuff and we had dinner together and we walked along the river a bit and over to the Alamo. The next day we spent at Seaworld which was a blast. I really wished we'd been able to take along one of M's friends so she'd have more fun there but she seemed to enjoy it anyway. We ate there at the barbecue cafe which was REALLY good, and offered extra seats at our table to a mom and two kids who turned out to be visiting from Wyoming while dad was in town for a cattlemen's convention of some kind. It was fun talking with them for a bit. M got to pet a dolphin which was her main goal of the whole freaking trip.

And I got to see Shamu which was mine.

We had intended to go see Mindy the next day but some work stuff got in the way and we were just going to go on home through Carlsbad and all... ended up spending the night there since we were so tired from the driving. Got home early enough the next afternoon after hitting a blinding rainstorm outside of Moriarty east of the mountain. It was bad enough that I almost pulled over but it began to let up.
Kids are in the pool and I promised I'd go sit out there with them so guess I better go!
